New Chapter for Globally Awarded Mollydooker Wines

Sarah Marquis
One of Australia’s most internationally awarded wine labels is about to enter its next exciting chapter as Sarah Marquis - the co-founder and winemaker of Mollydooker Wines - now takes the reins as sole owner.

Located in the heart of South Australia’s McLaren Vale region, Mollydooker was created by Sarah and Sparky Marquis in 2006 and has since gone on to win a swag of international awards.

Wine Spectator has listed their wines eight times in their ‘Top 100’ and ranked their ‘Carnival of Love’ Shiraz a record three times in the ‘Top 10 Wines of the World’.

Sarah Marquis says the change in ownership is simply part of the ongoing growth and evolution of the brand, and their commitment to producing consistently world-class wines hasn’t – and won’t - change.

“It was time for Sparky and I to go our separate ways, but I have always been actively involved as a winemaker here and that won’t be any different,” she says.

“We have always been dedicated to producing outstanding wines that have that WOW factor. We pride ourselves on delivering consistency in the bottle year after year and this is something we have become recognised for, by wine lovers around the world.”

“We measure the quality of our wines by the intensity of fruit on the palate, which is what we call ‘Fruit Weight’. Put simply, if the fruit doesn’t reach the desired Marquis Fruit Weight ™ for a particular label, we simply don’t make the wine,” she says.

“Our 2017 Vintage is one of the best vintages we’ve ever seen, with a production potential of up to 100,000 cases. Early signs are extremely positive with quality looking as good as ever,” says Sarah.

“We also just released our 2016 Lefty Wines around the world this month and have already sold more than 35% worldwide.”

“We are all very excited about what the future holds at Mollydooker and I am absolutely thrilled to be working with such a talented and experienced team to see just what we can achieve next!”
