Our pinnacle Shiraz, the Velvet Glove is crafted with stunning beauty and power. It wraps your entire palate in a velvet glove of amazing fruit flavours that seem to last forever.

To honour the beauty and individuality of our Velvet Glove Shiraz, we seal it in a unique bottle, apply a real velvet label printed in silver foil, and then place the bottle in a gorgeous velvet bag embroidered with silver thread. It's our labour of love to provide you with a joyful experience from beginning to end.

The grapes were grown on the Gateway vineyard in McLaren Vale.

Barrel fermented and matured in 97% new and 3% one year old American oak.

'The 2009 Velvet Glove is 100% Shiraz matured in American oak, 97% new. Very deep garnet purple colored, it gives intense warm blackberry, choco-mint, smoked bacon and marmite-toast aromas with nuances of coffee, roasted nuts and vanilla. Floral notes of violets and potpourri emerge after a few minutes. Very rich, very crisp, concentrated and full, there’s a good backbone of firm, very fine tannins and crisp acid leading into the very long and layered finish. ‘An impenetrable black dark purple colour with black heart and very deep black purple hue shows remarkable colour saturation. A perfume of fresh blackberry, liquorice and confectionary hits the nose, counterpointed by a trace of blackpepper and light toasty notes. A superb sniff. The palate delivers a slow-motion explosion - liquorice, dark plum, blackberry, confectionary, vanilla, toast and spice flavours are followed by blackpepper on the back palate, all seamlessly interwoven in a complex amalgam. Decadently rich and exuberant texture with excellent acidity supporting the masses of fruit. Very fine grained, almost velvet like tannins with exceptionally long aftertaste of liquorice, blackpepper, confectionary and spice.
