About This Wine:

We made this wine because we enjoy drinking Sparkling Shiraz ourselves. We love the Goosebumps so much that it has now replaced all of the bubbly white stuff we used to drink at our Mollydooker celebrations!
Great as an aperitif and incredible with dessert, it smells just like dark chocolate with raisins, mixed with strawberry and violet aromas. When you taste it, the fruit flavours literally explode in your mouth giving you an awesomely rich, concentrated, pure fruit experience with a beautifully balanced finish. Yum.

Label: The name comes from one of our customers who got to taste the wine when we first made it and said it gave him ‘goosebumps’ because it was so good. We knew instantly that he’d come up with the perfect name!

Thoughts on Serving Goosebumps:
The absolute best case is when Goosebumps is served cold. Really cold. Put it in the fridge three days before serving. Then the CO2 is fully absorbed into the wine and when you drink it, it explodes in your mouth as a creamy mousse of tiny bubbles.

PS: Please do NOT do the ‘Mollydooker Shake’ on Goosebumps.

Vineyards: The grapes for the 2006 Goosebumps came from the Longbottom vineyard in Padthaway, the Belladaren vineyard in Langhorne Creek, and the Dry Creek vineyard in McLaren Vale.

The Longbottom vineyard in Padthaway is owned by Scott & Cheryl Longbottom who have been with us for over ten years. Scott & Cheryl are very successful farmers growing broad acre and onion crops as well as managing hundreds of acres of vines. Cheryl personally supervises the training of all young vines and the straight trunks of all of the vines in their vineyards are a testimony to her attention to detail. The fruit from these cooler climate vineyards has a beautiful lifted perfume character which extends the flavour profile of Mollydooker wines.

The Belladaren vineyard in Langhorne Creek is owned by Darren & Belinda Joppich who are some of the most innovative farmers in the area. Langhorne Creek borders Lake Alexandrina and last century, most of the trees in the area were chopped down and used to fuel the paddlesteamers that used to ply the waters. Darren was one of the first to plant salt bush on the eroded paddocks and turned disaster into success. You should taste his saltbush lamb! Darren and Belinda have also installed a desalination plant on their property so that they can go on watering their vines according to the Marquis Vineyard Watering Program™.

The Dry Creek vineyard is in the Sellicks Hill area of McLaren Vale and is owned and managed by Darryl, Neville & Jan Kirwin. The Kirwin family have years of grape growing experience in the Riverland area of South Australia and moved to McLaren Vale to follow their dream of producing grapes which would make quality wine. Their two 5 acre Shiraz blocks have 8 watering zones each, making them the most complex vineyards that we manage under our watering program. Darryl looks after the block and we reckon that he knows every vine personally!
